Epictetus participated in the Hackathon for Innovation & Entrepreneurship 2025, organised by InnoHUB HMU and held in Heraklion on July 3–4, 2025.
The two-day hackathon brought together students, researchers and aspiring entrepreneurs with the goal of developing innovative ideas through teamwork, mentoring and practical feedback. Participants worked in teams, refined their concepts and explored how their ideas could be developed into stronger and more realistic solutions.
During the event, the Epictetus team had the opportunity to present its ideas to mentors and other participants, explain the thinking behind them and receive direct feedback on their potential, clarity and further development. These presentations gave the team a chance not only to showcase its work, but also to see its ideas from a different perspective and identify areas that could be improved or developed further.
A key part of the hackathon was the interaction with mentors, who provided guidance throughout the process. Their feedback helped the participating teams evaluate their ideas more critically, consider practical challenges and think about how their concepts could be communicated more effectively to different audiences.
For Epictetus, the experience was especially valuable because it extended beyond the technical side of engineering. While the team regularly focuses on building, experimenting and developing technical solutions, the hackathon placed additional emphasis on idea presentation, communication, teamwork and problem solving.

Taking part in an event like this also gave members the opportunity to practise presenting technical and innovative concepts in a clear and structured way, respond to questions and feedback, and collaborate under time constraints. These are important skills when moving a project from an initial technical concept toward something that can be understood, evaluated and potentially developed further.
The Hackathon for Innovation & Entrepreneurship 2025 also created an environment where different teams could exchange ideas, observe different approaches to problem solving and learn from one another. For Epictetus, participation represented another opportunity to connect hands-on engineering with innovation, collaboration and the broader process of turning ideas into real-world projects.
